The international jury was impressed by the general quality of the projects of the 10 finalists, selected out of 275 submitted files.

Crowet Award: Kelly Schacht

Unanimously, the jury chose to award Kelly Schacht the Young Belgian Painters Award – Crowet (25.000 €), for her intense research on the relationship between the work of art, the space and the spectator, and how this relationship transforms itself in a performatic gaze.

The Young Belgian Painters Award has been one of the key events for young artists in Belgium since 1950. The competition aims to encourage and promote young talent.

The Jury of the Young Belgian Painters Award has selected 10 artists amongst the 276 applications for the exhibition that will take place from June 9 till September 11 2011 at the Centre for Fine Arts of Brussels.
