Project Call Young Belgian Painters Award 2011

In 2011 the Jeune Peinture Belge, in collaboration with the Centre for Fine Arts of Brussels, will be presenting a new edition of the Young Belgian Painters Award. This prestigious prize has become one of the major references for contemporary art in Belgium. The contest is open to artists from all disciplines who are between 18 and 35 years old on the 1st of January 2011, and who have Belgian nationality or have been living in Belgium for at least one year. An international jury of museum directors and curators will select the projects on the basis of a presentation file. The selected artists will be invited to exhibit their work at the Centre for Fine Arts from June 9 to September 11, 2011. During the opening, the jury will award 4 candidates, amongst which at least one will be a painter: - the “Crowet” Young Belgian Painters Award (€25,000) - the “Langui” Young Belgian Painters Award (€12,500) - the “Centre for Fine Arts” Young Belgian Painters Award (€12,500) - the “ING” Young Belgian Painters Award (€12,500) Applications must be sent to the Centre for Fine Arts by October 30, 2010. Welcome on the website of the Young Belgian Painters Award. 

You will find here everything you want to know about the Young Belgian Painters Award: its history, the participants of this year, details about the prices and the Jury.

The jury short-listed the following seven candidates from the approximately two hundred who submitted entries: Nico Dockx, Jeroen Hollander, Robert Kot, Lara Mennes, Caroline Pekle, Els Vermang and Leon Vranken. These artists have been invited to create a new work which will go on show at the Centre for Fine Arts between June 25th and September 13th.
